This course is entry-level; geared toward developing a solid foundation for a health and fitness career as a fitness instructor. This course prepares students for the Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) exam.

WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE?
This course is designed for present and aspiring Personal Trainers, those interested in a possible career change to the health/fitness industry, recreational athletes, coaches, and general fitness enthusiasts.
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Must be 18 years of age.
A valid CPR certification is required in order for any NSPA certification to be valid. We are no longer requiring proof of current CPR statusbut at any time during your certification period with NSPA you must have a valid CPR certification in order for your NSPA certification to be valid.

COURSE STRUCTURE
This course consists of two, nine-hour days of lecture, hands-on instruction, and demonstration.
Lectures are supported with practical application, emphasizing small group interaction and personal instruction conducted by NSPA Conditioning Specialist teaching staff.
Testing
The student does not test during the 2 day workshop. They take the materials home and study. When they are ready NSPA Offers testing every 4th Saturday of the month. The student can sign up for the exam online. The registration opens in the beginning of the month for the exam that is being held that month. See the testing schedule.
Written Exam Protocol: Definitions, Fill-in-the blank, Short Answer, Multiple Choice, Diagrams and Essay.
Written Exam Results: 75% accuracy required for passing grade on Written Exam.
Practical Exam Protocol: One-on-One Multiple Station Examinations: Blood Pressure, Skinfold, Stretching, Machines and Free Weights.
Practical Exam Results: Two missed questions on any Practical section requires retesting.
Retest Protocol: Written and Practical Exams are separate retests- Written $30.00; Practical $20.00 per section.
Off Site Re-Testing is available in certain regions.
There is an Off Site Processing Fee of $15.00 in addition to the exam portion retest fees.
*The Off Site Retest Fee for the Written is $35.00. *The Off Site Retest Fee for Practicals is $25.00 (each practical).
